Locate local job clubs on America's Service Locator

You can now find local job clubs in your city, state, or ZIP code with Job Club Search in America's Service Locator. You'll find contact information including websites and phone numbers when available, as well as maps and driving directions. Job clubs are a great community-based resource that provide support, resources, and information for individuals during any phase of their job search. Visit www.ServiceLocator.org/JobClubs to get started.  

Find local Employment Network organizations on America's Service Locator

Employment Networks (EN) are organizations that provide services to help people with disabilities enter or re-enter the workforce. More than 1,000 ENs across the United States provide job training and other employment services under the Ticket to Work program for adults receiving Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Find and EN by city, state, or ZIP code at www.ServiceLocator.org/EmploymentNetworks.

 

O*NET Tools and Technology data updated

O*NET's occupational database now includes information on the machines, equipment, tools, and software used in 670 occupations. View the complete list of occupations with this data at www.onetonline.org/help/t2.

 

Professional Associations

Visit the new Find Professional Associations at www.CareerOneStop.org/ProfessionalAssociations to search more than 2,500 national professional and industry associations by occupation or industry.

 

Spanish Translation

Business Center

This new easy to use portal for a business audience brings together a variety of resources from the CareerOneStop web site, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau- from tools for writing job descriptions, to locating American Job Centers, to information about where and how to recruit qualified candidates. The Business Center content and tools were designed to address business needs for a skilled workforce, and was refined with feedback from employers. Some of the key features of the Business Center include:

-A civilian to military crosswalk to assist in recruiting veterans

-An 'Available Workforce" Tool which includes easy-to-download reports about employment projections and geographic concentrations of types of workers, wages, and unemployment rates for specific areas

-Links to local training and educational institutions

-Listings of top industries by employment, broken out by state, metro area, and county

-Related personnel or workforce certifications for a particular position

-Job description writing assistance


April through June 2013 Updates

mySkills myFuture Target Occupation

This option is offered to users of the mySkills myFuture skills transferability tool who already know for certain which career they want to pursue. You can enter any occupation and find career details including an occupation description, employment statistics, typical education and training, job duties, and links to local job listings and training programs. Check it out here www.myskillsmyfuture.org/target.

 

Create Custom Profiles of Local Workforce with the Available Workforce Tool

CareerOneStop's Available Workforce tool let you build profiles of your state and local workforce. You can create and view customized reports including current employment, projected employment, average wages, unemployment rates, top industries, local education and training programs, and local demographics. O*NET Provides Job Listings

O*NET OnLine users can now select their state from occupation reports to link directly to job listings in CareerOneStop's mySkills myFuture, or to access CareerOneStop's list of state and national job banks. Visit O*NET OnLine (www.onetonline.org).

Industry and professional associations help individuals to keep current with trends in their field and also offer a great community for professional support and learning. CareerOneStop offers new resources to help businesses recruit and hire veterans. Certification Finder Updates

The Certification Finder (www.CareerOneStop.org/CertificationFinder) continues to provide and easy-to-use search for national certifications. Search for certifications by their name, their related occupation or industry, or the certifying organization. Now, you can also download and save your list of certifications as an Excel, PDF, Word, of RTF file.

 

Job Description Writer Updates

The Job Description Writer (www.CareerInfoNet.org/JobWriter) still walks users through a step-by-step process of building a meaningful job description. The revised tool provides a comprehensive job description upfront and allows users to customize. The description provides education and training data by state and includes skills, knowledge, tasks, work activities, and more. Users can also download and save their job descriptions as an Excel PDF, Word, or RTF file.
