Returning to civilian life after military service is different for every person. A wide variety of services exist to make this transition as smooth as possible. Additional Transition Resources Get copies of your military records Main Transitional Resources for Veterans Make the right career and education decisions after deployment by attending a Transition Assistance Program (TAP) seminar. This three-day workshop helps veterans deal with career, education, and employment decisions. The workshop is available for those separating from the military beginning 12-months prior to separation. Individuals retiring from active duty can begin receiving services 24-months prior to retirement. TAP is offered to all military branches through a partnership among the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, and the Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS). These representatives can meet you at your local One-Stop Career Center to help you find job, training or education assistance.
