Take a Class

There are lots of reasons to consider taking a class before or during a job change:

  • A single class can be a great way to explore whether a new career field is right for you.
  • Updating even one specific skill can help you stand out from the crowd when applying for your next job.
  • Learning a new skill can energize your career and your outlook on life.

Is there a skill that you’ve always wanted to learn or improve? Check out CareerOneStop’s Short-term Training Finder to locate programs or schools near you. Also check with your local community education department.

Want to know what specific skills and technology employers are looking for? Visit CareerOneStop’s Tools & Technology section. You can search for your occupation and get a list of common tools and technology used on the job. If you have less skill in an area than you'd like, consider a class in that area.

You may also want to explore the sections on Short-term Training or Begin or Finish a Degree.
