Skills and abilities

Skills and abilities sample

Your skills and abilities are key to showing that you match an employer’s needs, so should be integrated throughout your resume. Highlight them in these sections:

  • Summary statement
  • A special skills section
  • Accomplishments
  • Continuing education

Beth emphasizes project coordination skills in her summary. Another option could be to list them in a separate section called “Project Coordination Skills.”

Her skills are also reflected in the courses in her Professional Development section.

In addition to specific job skills, your transferable skills - those needed for many different jobs - should be included in your resume. In her summary, Beth mentions two of her transferable skills: her “exceptional analytical ability” and “talent for managing information.”
