Lord Fairfax Community College, a Round 4, Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training grantee, has created the KnowledgeToWork.com web portal for personalized learning tied to competencies using Open Education Resources. KnowledgeToWork.com uses nationally-recognized competency frameworks mapped to instructional content. The portal, which is designed to meet the needs of learners, job seekers and employers, focuses on career pathways in Information Technology, Health Care, and Manufacturing. Health: Electronic Health Records Certification, Licensure, and Assessment Development; Communicate Industry Needs; Curriculum Evaluation, Planning, and Development Community College Partners with Industry Association Foundation to Develop Health Information Management National Competency Framework Virginia
Lord Fairfax Community College (LFCC) is partnering with the AHIMA Foundation, the 501©3 charitable affiiliate of the American Health Management Association, to develop a new national competency framework and credentials related to information technology in health information management (HIM). With funding from a 2014 Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grant, LFCC implemented the Knowledge2Work (K2W) initiative to establish competency-based education degree programs, including an AAS degree in health information management. After establishing K2W at the local level, LFCC received additional funding to work with the AHIMA Foundation to develop national competencies and credentials focused on information technology in HIM.
